My Secret Ambition Essay Example

My Secret Ambition Essay Example My Secret Ambition Essay My Secret Ambition Essay Childhood is the best time of a person’s life Many people will probably agree that childhood is the best time of ones life. But not every childhood is happy. Some children may be born in a poor family or under such circumstances that make their lives bad. In my opinion, childhood is the happiest time of a persons life in most cases. Why is childhood the best stage of ones life? Lets consider common circumstances. The child is born in good family, he or she has parents who love and take care of him or her. The kid can go to school, learn, read and write and play with friends and schoolmates. The child is not worried about an adults problems like to have everything ready for work, pay bills, survive till next paycheck etc. Kids dont pay attention to problems like policy, global warming, high criminality or problems of the third world. Then childhood is the happiest time of ones life. You should see parents at the time of their 1st child! They will be so full of joy but what about the child who is screaming and yelling and probably looking like a shrunken prune! The 1st stage of childhood is as sad for the kid as it is as happy for the parents. 5 years later; the kid would look like a picture of happiness mostly when running round and round in the park, squealing with delight while playing with new little friends. Suddenly cries are heard around the park, looks like the kid has got hurt. That scene didn’t last too long-the Childs parents rushed to the scene and comforted the child with love! In next to no time the child was playing again as if nothing had happened! Years roll by when kids reach an age when old trend parents don’t appear to comprehend their adolescent who is in his teens and wants to enjoy every moment of it with his friends. As you know teens, they hate to admit it but sometimes even studies seem appealing as one gets to know what is out there in space or may be learn about new countries in other continents. They even get to express their feelings and their wild imaginations through works of art. Soon when a person reaches at the stage of an adult, responsibilities pour into a person’s life like rain. Worries never the less keep on mounting. A problem is not solved when another arises. A person might wish he/she was a duty free senseless baby who is totally dependant on its parents. But life isn’t all bad, it is like climbing a rocky mountain with many boulders in between. In conclusion, childhood is the happiest time of a persons life in most cases. It depends on circumstances and the number of bad childhood is not small either. One cant chose where he or she will be born.

European House Price Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4250 words

European House Price - Essay Example The paper tells about the recession, which took shape in the USA in 2008 and shook the whole world. The European economy followed the same principles like that of the US. The banks in Germany, the biggest economy in the European zone, offered loans to subprime people much like that of the US and suffered the consequences. The subprime people were unable to pay the loans and the economy was engulfed in recession. The recession had a tremendous effect on the European economy as a whole. The inflation culminated to a record high and the global turmoil resulted in the loss of jobs and closure of organizations. During the second quarter of 2008, the growth of the European economy contracted to 0.2%, which is the worst in the history after the EU was created. This was in sharp contrast to the first quarter of the year when the European economy had a growth rate of 0.7%. Why did the economy suffer such a setback? This was mainly due to the bad performance of Germany whose economy suffered f or the first time in four years. England experienced rise in the inflation rate and slow growth of the economy. In fact, all the countries over the continent of Europe were plagued by the problem of inflation and low economic growth. The banks stressed on the fact that fighting inflation is their main agenda, which will help in recovering the economy. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) had predicted after the housing bubble burst in the US that the condition in the Europe is far from satisfactory. The body had predicted slow growth in the economy and rise in the inflation.

Viruses, Mononucleosis, Immune system Research Paper

Viruses, Mononucleosis, Immune system - Research Paper Example Unlike all living things, viruses are not cells. They are called parasites because they cannot do anything without a host and cannot carry out their own life functions just like what a cell does. In order for viruses to cause harm to its target host, viruses must invade and manipulate the living cell in order to replicate or copy their own genetic material (Goldstein, 4). Some viruses can only infect certain type of organisms because of lapses in the immune system’s defense mechanism. Mononucleosis Infectious Mononucleosis (Mono) or Kissing’s Disease is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus that infects the cells of the throat and the immune system (Decker, Hecht, Babcock, 8). Patient with this condition has elevated mononuclear cells and the virus will always be in the patient’s body, shedding it periodically in the saliva. It is also referred as the Kissing’s Disease because the primary mode of transmission is through kissing or sharing of utensils (Gedatus, 6). Infectious mononucleosis, however, cannot be transmitted through air. The incubation period, (the time from exposure to the disease to the development of symptoms) varies with regards to age. An adult takes 4-6 weeks for the symptoms to develop while children and adolescents take only 7-14 days (Gedatus, 11).

Slavic civilization Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Slavic civilization - Term Paper Example This gave them a solid ground and an opportunity to win more souls. This essay therefore aims at looking at the spread of Islam in the Balkans gauging the period from which Islam began to have rather a strong impact on the Slavic in the Balkan. It is therefore very difficult to speak about Islam in various parts of Europe and Asia without reflecting on a brief history of the spread of the Slavic people. The Slavic are an Indo-European speaking people who migrated to various parts of Europe. Presently, they occupy various parts of Central Europe, northern Europe, and southern Europe. They also occupy parts of central and northern parts of Asia. The word Slavic is a term derived from the word ‘slovo’,1 meaning- people who speak the same language. Originally, the term Slavic was used to refer to a people who had common language or culture. The Slavic speaking people are believed to have originated from somewhere in Danube River as shown by that term. The people they were ex posed to when they were travelling regarded the Slavonic people as backward. One reason why they were viewed as primitive was because of the places they inhabited. Early historians believe that the Slavonic majorly inhabited swampy places and those places that were near rivers and lakes. The Slavonics were organized into groups and had no one ruler. They lived a democratic way of life in their social structure, each living in harmony with his neighbor2. They were monotheists, believing in one god, the god of lightning. They sacrificed to this god of lightning majorly cattle, of which they chose the best among what they had. Going by their description, the Slavonic were tall people, who were very hardy and mostly trounced their opponents in battle. Historically, whenever they went to battle against their opponents, they could engage them in a fierce battle, fighting unanimously. This was contrary to how they lived. They lived in isolation but they could approach battle as one, fighti ng a common enemy. Their mode of fighting was unique. They could role the helm of their trousers nearer to their private parts, and bare-chested. They did not have any problem in identifying themselves when in battle. They were almost similar in appearance given their gigantic nature and the way they shove their hair, almost blonde. Guided by the scriptural teachings of Koran, the Muslims took their mission to various parts of the world, including to the Slavic people. The Muslims believed that they had an obligation to defend their religion. This formed the basis of fighting to convert people to the new faith. They believed that it was their right; as Prophet Mohammed required that Islamic faith was to be guarded3. This could be the reason why they waged wars, wars they commonly called Jihad (holy war) before it lost its meaning. The Jihad war was waged just to protect the Islam religion from losing its influence. It was believed to be one way of ensuring that other rival religions especially Christians do not influence win over the already converted Muslims. The spread of Islam in Europe began with the imprisonment of one Muslim who much later was given a mandate to teach. He taught Islamic religion to many people who were later converted to Islam. It must be acknowledged that the spread of Islam did not take place effectively through war. People easily got converted voluntarily through teaching than when war was used. This explains why it was voluntary teaching that helped

Appeal Factors Of The Worlds Top Receiving Countries

Appeal Factors Of The Worlds Top Receiving Countries Introduction Tourism is the short-term movement of people from their normal places of residence or work to other places for any non-earning activity (Theobald, 1998). The United Nations recognizes three forms of tourism: Domestic, which involves citizens of a country travelling within their country, outbound, which occurs when citizens travel outside their country and Inbound, where non-residents travel in a certain country. The world tourism organization (UNWTO) reported the world tourism statistics and listed the worlds top tourist generating countries and tourist receiving countries. European countries continue to be the most visited countries between 2006 and 2008 with the top ten receiving countries being from the European continent. However, United Sates of America and China were among the top four countries, the other two being France and Spain. France had the highest international tourist arrivals followed by United States of America, Spain and China respectively (UNWTO, 2010). These countries have continued to appeal to tourists over the years and it is important to understand their tourist appeal factors. Do they have anything in common that attracts the large number of international tourists or do they offer individually unique tourist attraction factors. It is important to note that the listing of the countries according to international tourism receipts show the United States of America to be the top recipient. France and Spain follow it closely but Italy displaces China from the fourth position (UNWTO, 2010). This may indicate that tourists have different levels of expenditure in the four countries. The expenditures are different probably due to the different activities the tourists undertake in the different countries. This already indicates that different factors in each country attract the tourists. The following is a comparison of the tourist appeal factors in France, United States of America, Spain and China. Culture and Heritage All these countries have rich and interesting cultures and heritage that attract and amaze travelers from all over the world. Culture and heritage incorporates tangible and intangible attributes given or owned by a given society. They make a given society different from another. These attributes are inherited from the older generations of the society and are preserved in the current generation for its benefit as well as to benefit the future generations. The culture of the United States of America is diverse compared to the other three countries because of the diverse ethnicity of its population. They include many elements such as fashion, pop culture, entertainment, unique sports, military and scientific innovations and widely discussed politics. In general, all the four countries have different cultures, which are discussed below. Entertainment Entertainment presents a key tourist appeal factor in the United States with destinations such as Hollywood and the Las Vegas strip attracting huge numbers of tourists (Tours to United States, n.d.). Amusement parks like Disney land also attract a substantial number of tourists. The entertainment industry in this country attracts high expenditure tourists and due to this reason, the tourist receipts are higher than in other countries. The entertainment industry is not a key tourist appeal in France but Disney land Paris receives quite a notable number of tourists seeking leisure. Other entertainment activities like gambling, music concerts and cinemas do not attract such a large number of tourists. Cultural Events Spain is known for its colorful cultural events and they act as major visitor attractions (Holloway Taylor, 2009). Because of this, the term fiesta country is sometimes used to refer to Spain. One of the cultural events is the carnivals that are celebrated through out the country with major parties in Cadiz and Santa Cruz. The April Fair has become very popular all over the world due to its flamenco dancers and its bullfighting. The attention it generates means that more and more people desire to witness the event. This leads to a high number of inbound tourists. All the Spanish cities are so popular for their rich cultural events that United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared thirteen of them as world heritage cities (CNTO, 2010). China also has a number of popular cultural events such as shaolin international martial arts festival and the spring festival. The festivals attract many international tourists but not as many as other tourist attractions like the historical features. Apart from the cultural events, the Chinese people have a unique way of life that people from other regions desire to see. Their way of life and believes distinguish the Chinese people from the rest of the world. Uniqueness is one factor that increases the number of inbound tourists. France and the USA do not have cultural events that are very popular outside of their countries. Cultural events therefore cannot be considered as key tourist appeals for these two countries. Sports The four countries all have received substantial number of visitors because of sports or sporting activities. Football is popular in Spain and France and the countries receive many visitors especially during sporting occasions. China hosted the 2008 summer Olympics and received many visitors then. It is expected to receive even more during the Expo 2010 Shanghai China Historic features China and the United States of America have the most popular historic features among the four countries. The Great Wall of China has become a major tourist attraction in the world (CNTO, 2010). It is a symbol of the Chinese nation and millions of people from other countries travel to China to see it . It is one of the most important tourist attraction sites for China (Holloway Taylor, 2009). Other historic landmarks that bring large numbers of inbound tourists into China are historic cities like Pingyao, the Forbidden City in Beijing and terracotta army. The historic cities and famous sites are the main tourist appeals in China unlike in Spain, France and USA. The features signify the long history of the Chinese people and their rich culture. They show the historic way of life of the Chinese people. This is the source of their huge attention from resident of other countries USA also has some historic features that receive many local and international tourists. They are mainly historic buildings and landmarks. Unlike those in China, these ones in the USA are memorial parks like Lincoln and Jefferson memorials. They do not reveal the way of life of the ancient Americans. By 2007, the United States Government recognized 2,462 National Historic Landmarks (NHL). The NHLs are also popular with tourists but do not receive a large numbers of tourists as those in China. France and Spain do not have very popular historic landmarks. Museums also form received notable numbers of tourists in USA and France. Nature Another key attraction factor in the United States of America that is not common for the other three countries is the untamed wilderness and huge national parks that attract millions of visitors. America is rich in natural beauty with a wide rage of flora and fauna that act as a major tourist attraction unlike Spain, France and China. The national parks hold animals, which are unique to the American region and not common to other regions. Spain, China and France are lacking in terms of rich wildlife. USA also has widely known wonders of nature like the Grand Canyon of Arizona, Niagara Falls and Rocky Mountains (Hall Page, 2006). Grand Canyon alone attracts over 4.5 million visitors per year (UNWTO, 2009). The five sacred mountains of china and its many waterfalls also receive a large number of tourists Countries with beautiful beaches generally receive many tourists. This is applies to Spain where summer resorts and beaches form major tourist appeals. The Spanish coasts are suitable for vacations during summer. Examples of the coasts include Costa Brava and Costa Calida. This is not the case with the other three countries in the top four receiving countries. Man made structures and Scientific Achievements Man made structures like buildings and bridges act as major tourist appeal factors in developed countries (Hall Page, 2006). Paris, the capital city of France is currently the most visited city in the world due to attractions such as Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel tower and the cathedral of Notre-Dame. The Golden Gate Bridge in the USA is one of the most famous bridges in the world and causes The Golden Gate National Recreation area to receive millions of visitors per year (UNWTO, 2009). Conclusion France is the top tourist receiving country in the world. The major tourist appeals are museums and the amazing buildings in the city of Paris. USA is the second with a wide range of tourist appeals. They include gambling and entertainment, natural features, memorials and man made structures. Spain is the third receiving country with its major appeals being cultural events and beaches. The fourth country is China and its key tourist appeals are historic sites and cultural events.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT :: essays research papers

It has always been a myth that sun signs describe who you are. Most of the times, it seems unbelievable to accept the fact that the position of the sun and the planets determine the person’s character, yet we mostly identify firmly with our signs. The characters from Jane Austen’s famous novel, Emma, can be identified with their signs because of their unique personality traits. I believe the protagonist of the novel, Emma Woodhouse, is definitely a Leo. It is stated that â€Å"In grandeur of manner, splendor of bearing and magnanimity of personality, Leos are the monarch’s among humans†. This definition is clearly true for Emma for she bears the nobility in her manners and position. She has a great deal of self confidence, but she also has a great fear of being ridiculed and made to feel disgraced. Though we do not see anyone making fun of her in the novel, she is very much affected by Mr. Knightley upbraiding after she behaves impolitely towards Miss Bates. A Leo is warmhearted, generous, creative, enthusiastic, faithful, ambitious, courageous, dominant, strong willed, independent, self-confident and readily noticed whenever she enters a room. Leos think and act bigger than others would normally dare; â€Å"the ambitiousness of their schemes and idealism sometimes daunt their supporters.† Emma definitely thinks â€Å"bigger† than she should, and her imagination is much beyond the realities. She tries to matchmake Harriet with Mr. Elton, then with Frank Churchill, both who do not have any attachments towards her. â€Å"Leos’ faults can be as large in scale as their virtues, and an excessively negative Leonian can be one of the most unpleasant human beings imaginable, displaying extreme arrogance, snobbish superiority, autocratic pride, haughtiness, and excessive hastiness of temper.† At the scene with the picnic in Donwell’s Abbey, Emma puts Miss Bates down harshly when she begins to chatter continually. Emma’s sharp remark shows her cruelty, arrogance, selfishness, pomposity with the most unpleasant manner. Mostly Leos use their powers for doing good, for they are strongly idealistic, humane, and beneficent, yet they do not hesitate to use cunning, lies and trickery to discredit their rivals if they’re jealous. This becomes true for Emma about her feelings towards Jane Fairfax. She has been brought up like a princess, getting the most attention and love. However, when Miss Bates mentions Jane Fairfax’s letter or Mr. Knightley talks about Jane Fairfax’s beauty and gentleness, Emma suddenly becomes jealous of her.

Being a Musician

Music is the rhythm that keeps the world spinning. What is it about music that makes it so enjoyable to listen to? Is it the message that we gain from the lyrics or is just the background beat? Music, with all its intricacies, can be seen as living entity that has the ability to rest Inside our soul and create emotions such as excitement and awe. Music helps create a bond and connect people all around the world whether they speak different languages or practice different religions.Music has always been an integral part of my life. I listen and partake in music almost every day and when I listen to a great piece of music, I cannot help but feel great joy and feel as though I am one with the song. It is as if my body goes into an alternate universe where Instruments have the ability to talk and they are telling me their story. Over the years, I have learned through my experiences that music not only helps me learn, but to also grow. From an early age, I grew up listening to Classical I ndian music. My mom would sing traditional songs to me and would listen eagerly absorbing the song in its entirety. However, I did not know that I was developing my singing ability at the same time. Then, the unimaginable happened. I started to sing. This; however, is an understatement as I seemed to of sang well according to my elders and peers. I had this experience at the young age of 10 which Is when I discovered I had the talent to sing Classical Indian music. From then on, I was fixed on honing my musical skills and was determined to push it to things beyond singing. From then on, I would try singing whenever I was given a chance. I would sing in the shower, in the car, and even when my parents went to bed.Even though I liked to inning, I did not like to do it publicly in front of people. Now as I look back, it was probably because I was not very confident In my abilities so I was afraid of making a fool of myself. Not long after, my parents started to notice my knack for music and I was forced to share my talent. However, I am eternally grateful that they made me sing in public at our temple because that led to a Classical Music teacher approaching my parents and she asked them if I would like to learn from her. This was Just the beginning of my journey in music. As I continued to sing, I became more and more fascinated with piano. Ked my parents if I could start taking lessons and they readily agreed. As I went to the piano teacher, she said I had a natural ability to read music and that my fingers were Incredibly quick for an eleven year old. I continue to piano to this day and thoroughly enjoy it. Piano; however, was not the only instrument that I learned to play. In sixth grade, I joined band and picked the trumpet as my instrument of choice. I loved playing it the first moment the trumpet touched my lips. Band has been a part of my life ever since sixth grade and I have been playing the trumpet for the better part of 5 years. Simmered by the notes. Music is the only thing that has the power to fully captivate someone in this manner. Personally, music gave me the opportunity to go from the world of real-life problems to a world of tranquility and from the life of an academically overachieving student to that of a musical vocalist.

Airline Sky Miles Essays

Airline Sky Miles Essays Airline Sky Miles Essay Airline Sky Miles Essay The contemporaneous business industry is significantly different from how it used to be only a few decades ago. The primary change that occurred regarded the nature of the business. As such, in the past, business activities had a more practical and technological nature and they were generally product oriented; but today, they have become more human oriented. For instance, during the twentieth century, the focus was on the products manufactured and the technologies used, without much emphasis on the human resource or on customer satisfaction. So low was the interest towards customer satisfaction, that Henry Ford even said once that his customers could have their cars made in any color they desired, as long as this color was black. Today however, the industrial sector places increased emphasis on both employees as well as customers. Employees have transformed from the people operating the machines into the company’s most vital resources and the customers are the forces that drive businesses. An industry sector which is extremely relevant of this change in the nature of the businesses conducted is the airline sector. There are numerous airline companies that compete against each other on the market and strive to present customers with the best products and services. Furthermore, these companies invest millions of dollars each year in order to improve the quality of their products and increase customer satisfaction. A more and more common means of achieving this is that of offering customers the possibility to fly for free or, at least, to benefit of deductions and special offers. 2. Emergence of airline sky milesAirline sky miles programs were first initiated in order to attract more customers. Delta Airlines was one of the first companies to ever implement these programs which were soon adopted by most national and international airline companies. The basic principle of acquiring additional sky miles is that of purchasing airline products and services, gathering value points proportionally to the fees paid and then using these value points to pay for future services. The practice has spread around the globe generally due to its benefits and its easiness. There are numerous possibilities of acquiring sky miles, but the most common one is through credit cards. By paying the airline fees with credit cards, the customer can earn air miles. The amount of miles earned per fee depends on the airline companies. For instance, Delta Airlines and Blue Airlines grant customers one mile for a dollar paid. (Dial Abroad, 2007) As such, if one pays $350 for a ticket, he will be granted the right to fly 350 miles for free. Capital One on the other hand grants customers 1. 25 miles for each dollar spent. This means that for a $350 ticket, the buyer can earn 437. 5 air miles, 87. 5 extra miles that those offered by Delta or Blue Airlines. Among the most common credit cards that earn customers free sky miles are: Delta Sky Miles Gold Credit Card, Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express, Hilton Honors Platinum Card from American Express, British Airways Visa Signature Card, Continental Airlines World MasterCard from Chase, United Mileage Plus Platinum Business Card or Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Credit Card. Credit Federal, 2007) When they first emerged onto the market, the air miles were aimed to attract more customers and could only be used for flying services. However, in time they have evolved at such a level that they are now able to significantly influence the airline industry and the customer satisfaction at unforeseen levels. 3. Marketing Mix The marketing mix of the sky miles is composed of four features: product, place, price and promotion. The product related issues have to answer to questions in regard to brand name, functionality, quality, safety, support, services, accessories and warranties. Place (distribution) related issues regard distribution channels, market coverage, specific channel members, warehousing or distribution centers. Price related issues answer to questions in regard to the retail price, payment possibilities and discounts. Promotion decisions regard advertising campaigns, a marketing budget and public relations. (Net MBA, 2007) Product Sky miles are transportation benefits earned from previous purchases of airline products and services They can be used for several purposes, such as, but not limited to, plane flights, car rentals, shopping from airport stores, hotel reservations, or any other services provided by airline companies and their partners Sky miles’ brand name is t hat of the airline company that issues them (for example Delta Sky Miles or American Express Sky Miles). The brand name represents the issuer’s promise of high quality and commitment. Sky miles can be issued as nominal titles or they can be bearer miles. The bearer sky miles can easily be sold, donated or transferred to a tertiary party. For instance, in 2004, the United States Department of Defense initiated the Operation Hero Miles which allowed American citizens to donate their unused sky miles to the soldiers wounded in battles and to their families. (Luckach, 2005) Earning points through credit card payment grants numerous benefits for the customers. For instance, the Gold Delta Sky Miles Credit Card offers buyers 15,000 bonus miles with the first purchase; 2,500 bonus miles for adding an additional card member; no annual fee for the first year- a savings of $85; one mile for every other eligible dollar spent (American Express, 2007) Sky miles have a minimum period of accumulation, for instance a customers can only use his miles after a period of three months from enrolment in the program Sky miles have a maximum period of validity, meaning for instance that they would have to be spent in a time period of six months since the last purchase. However there exists a possibility of avoiding this disadvantage as the clients are not obliged to fly within that period but only to acquire their tickets. As such, at the expiration of the six months, customers can purchase a ticket and only use it after another three additional months, or whatever future date they choose. Place The place of distribution refers to the means of delivering the sky miles to the final customers Customers can directly earn their air miles by purchasing services at the airport counter, directly from the airline company, from the airline company’s partners (such as hotels or car rental agencies), through the airline company’s online purchase services Clients can als o indirectly get sky miles by buying them from other customers. For example, several customers earn sky miles and then sell them on the internet. There are numerous advertisement websites that contain adds regarding sky miles sales.EBay hosts on their travel category numerous such advertisements. One of them includes 2,000 Delta sky miles; the add expires on October 31, 2007 and has a starting bid of $10. 50 (eBay, 2007) The market coverage of the sky miles depends on each company’s market share and other features that strengthen or weaken the company and consequently their issued air miles The special channels of distribution refer to the issuers’ business partners and online purchases Since sky miles are service related rather than products, a special storage or warehousing is unnecessary.Price Sky miles are services that are earned, rather than paid for However, they are not free and they are established proportionally with the amount of products and services p reviously acquired from the issuer. For instance, most companies offer one mile for one dollar spent, but this varies based on each issuer’s internal policies There are price variations based on the buyer’s relationship with the airline company that issues the sky miles. As such, Delta Airlines offers one mile per one dollar on general purchases and two miles for one dollar at participating retailers (Knox, 2006) When indirectly purchasing the sky miles from a customer who desires to sell them the price is negotiated between the two parties and it considers the number of miles, their transferability and their particular usage possibilities Also included in the air miles prices is the process through which the customer earns the miles. As such, in the case of the credit cards, clients have to pay for the account maintenance costs The annual fees of the credit card vary form an airline company to the other. Generally, most companies offer a six to twelve months period which is free of charges. After this period has expired, some companies demand fees while others do not.For instance, the Gold Delta Sky Miles Credit Card has an annual fee of $85 starting with the second year, while the Blue Sky Mile Credit Card from American Airlines charges no fee for the entire validity of the credit card. Other companies have annual fees of $19 (Miles Edge), $55 (Northwest Airlines) or $75 (British Airways). (Credit Cards, 2007) Promotion The sky miles are in their essence promotional services used to attract more customers and increase their level of satisfaction.Even so, issuers need to implement several promotional strategies that familiarize customers with the services The marketing departments within each airline company enquires customers as to their content regarding the company’s products and services and develops strategies to improve them, based on a well defined budget The advertising campaigns developed generally focus on the benefits of t he sky miles, the easiness of using them and their multiple features, such as the possibility to use them while renting hotel rooms or cars and also the possibility of reselling them to other customers The core of the advertising campaigns is generally the airport, where companies directly present their products and services to the final customer The advertising campaigns can also take the form of television advertisements, radio announcements, street banners and flyers as well as online publicity. 4. Effects upon the airline industry Sky miles were initially granted to customers in order to attract them. From their emergence up to present times, the sky miles have developed in form and usage possibilities and are now features that influence the global airline industry. Their effects are best represented in two directions. First of all, air miles increase customers’ satisfaction in regard to the issuer’s products and services. Secondly, they influence the airline ind ustry in the meaning that they increase the competition among airline companies. Increased customer satisfactionAir miles are a most efficient means of attracting customers, familiarizing them with the company’s products, services and policies and increasing their fidelity to the issuer. The concept is based on the reward strategy and the sky miles are presented as the company’s reward for their customers. Being granted additional traveling opportunities, customers become more content with the airline company and tent to return. Furthermore, not only that they increases existent customers’ fidelity to the issuer, sky miles are also a guarantee of new customers. For instance, when considering a flight, be it for social or business purposes, most travelers look into the company’s benefits. If they find that one company offers more miles for a spent dollar or has lower annual fees for credit cards, they are likely to pick that company. The increased number of customers generates the company increased demand of their products and services. This offers the issuer the opportunity to expand and develop his business, leading to his registration of higher sales revenues. Consider that the large majority of the airline companies operating on the market are striving to present their customers with high quality products and services. This means that the customers are offered a wide palette of services from which they chose those that best meet their needs. As such, the sky miles represent a selection criterion for those searching for the perfect flight. All in all, increased customer satisfaction generates increased customer needs and expectations. On a market where customers become more exigent and demanding with every day, airline companies have to constantly develop their strategies, products and services. But not only do they have to improve and develop in order to satisfy customer needs, they must also develop in order to remain competitive on the market, this being the second effect sky miles have upon the airline industry. Increased competition among airline companies The competition between airline companies is generated by their desire to number as many customers as possible, register high incomes, develop, expand and become leaders on the market. This competition directly affects the entire airline industry in the meaning that: It forces companies to constantly develop, deliver better products and services and consequently improve the overall image of the airline industry It forces companies to expand, hire more workers and as such create more jobs and reduce the unemployment rate Strong airline companies register increased revenues, ergo pay more taxes. The collected taxes aid the community and sustain other developing industries It forces companies to function based on the concept survival of the fittest. The strongest companies will survive, while the weakest ones will have to cease their operation. 5. Concl usions Sky miles are travel services offered by airline companies as a reward of previous purchase of the company’s products or services. They are generally earned through payments with credit cards and they can be used for flights, car rentals, hotel rooms’ rentals or for shopping from airport stores or other partners’ stores. Air miles are easy to use, have numerous applications and can even be sold, donated or transferred. The costs of purchasing sky miles are generally reduced, but these vary with each issuer. The costs include the amount of dollars clients have to pay in order to earn a mile and the annual fees demanded by some issuers. Air miles were basically used by airline companies as a promotion strategy aimed to attract more customers. Elie Wiesels Night essays

Elie Wiesels Night essays The book I read for my book review was Dawn, bye Elie Wiesel. This story represents the post WWII struggle of the Israeli freedom fighters one young man in particular, who has found himself on the other side of the gun. Wiesel himself severed his time in the death camps at Auschwitz and Buchenwald during the War, and had previously written Night, the memoirs of his experiences. The purpose of this book, in my mind, was to express the inner most thoughts and the anguish of Elisha. Elisha is 18 years old. He was recruited by a gentleman named Gad, who turned him into a fighter. He has killed before for their cause, but only in groups never alone. ... Our bullets were a flaming wall on which their lives were shattered... My five comrades and I set out to either kill or to be killed. Pg28. But now, Elisha wasnt in a group. He had been ordered to execute an English officer, John Dawson, as to compensate for the British capturing David ben Moshe, one of their own. In tradition, execution s always took place at dawn in their culture; usually around 5AM. Elisha has less than twelve hours before he will be labeled as a murderer for the rest of his life. Hes having a difficult time coming to the reality that he is going to have to kill a man on his own. I should forget this night. But the dead never forget... In their eyes I should be forever branded a killer. Pg69. Of course, then again, if anyone were put into that position having to kill a man, who has done nothing wrong except be born of English blood I think they would be having some serious issues with themselves as well. In the Jewish tradition, there is a lot of focus on and towards nighttime. Night is a very important in that Night is purer than day; it is better for thinking and loving and dreaming. At night everything is more intense, more true. The echo of words that have been spoken du ...

LLB Company Law England and Wales Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

LLB Company Law England and Wales - Essay Example According to the discussion the company’s articles may require such authorisation from the shareholders and in such cases, even if the board authorises such transaction, it is not valid unless members approve the same. In case of public companies, only if the constitution specifically permits this, then only the board will have authority to authorise such transactions in which a director is interested. It is to be noted that s 175 has to be interpreted in conjunction with the s 182 CA 2006. It is the latter section that deals with the scenario where a director has an interest in a present business arrangement or transaction. For instance, if A Ltd wants to enter into business dealing with B Ltd and X is a director in both the companies; This is really a conflict of interest scenario as X is the director in both the companies. If X has made an disclosure of his interest to the board of the both companies and has obtained approval from the member of the boards, then, it is said that he has adhered with the section 175. From this paper it is clear that shareholders are authorised to take derivative action against the directors of the company for the loss sustained to the company due to the conflict of interest by a director of the company. Part II of CA 2006-under s 260 - now provides an opportunity for shareholders to initiate derivative action against the company for any proposed act or any actual omission involving default, negligence, breach of trust or breach of duty. Under this, as exclusion to the rule laid down in Foss v Harbottle, a statutory derivative claim can be initiated by a shareholder against the company directors, and this section does not complement the rule laid down in Foss v Harbottle but simply offers a legal procedure for a derivative action. In this case, Brian can make a derivative action against the directors to reimburse the loss sustained by the company. Further , board has kept silent even after finding the lapse and Brain has every right to sue the directors of the com pany, including Marcus for their act of negligence . Issue II â€Å"Duty to promote the Success of the Company† Duties owed by a director of a company to the company are enumerated in S 171 to 177 of CA 2006.

Alcohol Related Violence Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Alcohol Related Violence - Essay Example Most of the violence take place when the venues close or when the known figureheads move out of the bar. According to the research, lighting and security staff, taxi ranks and availability of public means of transport are a precursor to liquor related violence. The tax earned from increased alcohol taxation can in turn be used to educate the public on the dangers of alcohol as well as treat alcohol-related problems. An increase in alcohol tax will reduce alcohol related violence. Evidence shows that the best way to reduce alcohol related violence involves the local community in addressing the liquor related violence. The community in conjunction with the government and the businessmen can work together towards changing the drinking habits of the people. The empowered community can set code of conducts at the beer dens and agree on violence minimization practices. The community can also come up with measures such as frequent identification at liquor places to know the clients and also spearhead responsible drinking. Research suggests that the government should fund and provide them with the necessary support. Evidence shows that short-term interventions from the community are effective in reducing alcohol-related violence and should be supported. Local
